What is your granularity? To move from 0 to 1 is easy wrt the naturals.
0 + 1 = 1 and done. However, there is an infinity between 0 and 1. 0 +
1/2 + 1/2 = 1 More steps... Granularity?

0 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 1

0 + 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 1

You have to care the "telescoping" the series.
(And that related series are parameterized the same.)
