How many perople here have been involved with creating any volumetric
ray marched viewers that can handle a stack of images as slices in a
volumetric 3d view? The power of alpha blending in a volume: Imagine
looking down at your feet and being able to see right through the Earth
and out into deep space. Interesting. Afaict, the alpha is a fourth
dimension in a sense? Take RGB, three ary. RGBA is four ary, a fourth
dimension that allows RGB to become "transparent"... in a sense? Make
any sense to you?

Fwiw, here is an older volumetric of mine. My program rendered the
slices iirc 256^3 resolution, and ImageJ Fiji did the volumes for me:
