This time, a QNAP TS-869U-RP w/ 8x3T. Normally, I just pull the drives
from these things as dealing with different vendors' ideas of how a NAS
should behave is not worth the hassle (easier to just add a shelf -- or
three -- to a small server and put whatever software *I* want on it).

This seems to be, at least superficially, reasonably well executed.
Performance isn't as good as I'd expect (about 80MB/s on a lightly loaded
host and fabric). So, I wouldn't use it to serve VMs.

But, as a communal data pool it's probably adequate.
