It's fun to collect images online.
Occasionally however, I run into issues that are probably related
to color profiles, but I'm a bit confused how to resolve them.

For instance this image:

https://www.artbrussels.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/133/2020/01/flatland_ImagePress4-850x1024.jpg

In the browser it looks colorful, but if I save the image and look at the image
in irfanview or acdsee, the colors look washed out.
In this screenshot you can see a visual comparison of the way it looks in
the browser on the left and the way it looks in irfanview on the right:

If I toggle on color management settings in irfanview, that doesn't seem to make any difference. I've also tried opening the image in gimp, but it doesn't ask me to assign or convert any color profile upon opening the image.

Does anyone know how to fix this, so the image will display correctly?

I guess I found a solution.. if I open the file with photopea (the free online photoshop
clone), it uses the embedded colorprofile and then upon saving it as a jpg, it has the
option to convert to sRGB and the resulting jpg looks like as colorful as the imaged
looked in the browser.
