Order real Samsung or Western Digital and pay for it, around $50 for a
terabyte.

Or $11 from ebay, free shipping.

The organized crime rings stealing several hundred billion $ from retail stores are using online markets in a big way to sell the stolen goods. The goods are the real name brand product, nobody is getting scammed, it's just stolen. At least one toolmaker has put something in the device so it won't work until activated by a legitimate receipt.

I bought an unknown manufacturer 1 TB USB stick locally for about 50 USD.
It lived for a while, like 20 days?
It died when I inserted it into my USB hub.
Now that USB hub (connected ot a Raspberry Pi4) has been in use with a 3.4 TB Toshiba harddisk for more than a year...
I opened up the USB stick and what is interesting is that some SMD positions on its PCB
were empty, as far as I could see possible for protection diodes or the like.
Same happened to a cheap 125 GB USB stick on same Sitecom USB hub...
I have harddisks that have been in use daily for > 20 years....
These small size harddisks like the Toshiba work great with Raspberries using USB hubs.
other stuff on the hubs are for example RTL-SDR receiver sticks, audio stick, SDcard reader, geiger counter, wireless mouse and keyboard,
whatever I play with.

So, .. hard to tell what's good without testing...
PCs I mostly no longer use, maybe for bluray burning.
