I doubt it will be very popular, except maybe in government buildings
where common sense is not involved.

Imagine bringing in an army of electricians and drywall finishers and
IT people to run (fiber?) into overhead light fixtures and install the
optical things in every room of a building. Imagine a formerly wi-fi
enabled phone needing the power-hogging optical stuff and not working
because it's in somebody's pocket or purse or shadow.

Compare that to plopping a wifi box on a shelf in a broom closet. Or,
in a few years, just using the universal Gen6 network.
