Nothing is wrong with common sense. The only problem is that Einstein's relativity is an insane but all-powerful ideology. In a sane science, the speed of light OBVIOUSLY varies with the speed of the observer:

The speed of the light pulses relative to the stationary observer is

c = df

where d is the distance between subsequent pulses and f is the frequency at the stationary observer. The speed of the pulses relative to the moving observer is

c'= df' > c

where f' > f is the frequency at the moving observer.

Einstein's relativity is immeasurably more preposterous than flat-earth myths:

Curiously, this time travel into the future is not even a deductive consequence of Einstein's 1905 postulates. Logically it is non sequitur but psychologically it played a crucial role in the conversion of Einstein into a deity.
