The Ukranian counter-offensive hasn't registered any dramatic advances, but has made progress. It's certainly using up a lot of munitions, but it's using up a lot of Russian munitons too and they have fewer resources to draw on. Putin managed to use up a lot of Russian tanks and lives in the first phase of his invasion, and the Ukranians haven't made that mistake.

Lots. They are in it for the long haul.

They've got more people, but not a great deal of productive capacity. Having the country run by oligarchs doesn't make for efficient production. This isn't the great patriotic war.
It's an extravagance Russia can't afford.
