Nope. Usenet will live on, and it will be more like it once was without
the noise from Giggle Groups. I expect these groups to be much more
quiet without Google but the quality of posts is likely to improve.

Of course the tards* from Google Groups can still access Usenet the
"old" way, but now there are intelligence hurdles of finding and
installing a newsreader and signing up for an NNTP provider.

following you across the internet reminding you of similar
products or services or counseling programs or books or
whatever that you might be interested in?

Advertisers are uninterested in Groups, therefore Google
is uninterested.

In the past, I often posted that Google doesn't fire or lay off
programmers hired by accident that didn't work out for whatever reason.
Instead they are assigned to work in a dungeon deep below their
headquarters, where their new job is to make Google Groups worse and worse.

They have been quite successful at that. So much so, apparently Google
has decided the project to make Google Groups worse and worse is a
complete success and feels they can finally fire those engineers and
terminate the GG project.

As a MONOPOLY, owning more than 90% of the total amount of searches in the web, also redirect you to specific sites through algorithms.

Duckduckgo is a proof of such actions, where you still can find content suppressed by Google search engines.

Gew's controlled Google is driving people to IDIOCRACY by weaponizing content, which has to satisfy their medium term objectives:

- One world English dominated opinions and news.
- 5+1 eyes TPTB, in order to map, register and control activities of 5 billions people AND THEIR NETWORK of contacts, stolen through your Gmail
list of contacts, wiretapping your connections and making semi-random remote access to your CONVERSATIONS, etc.

I quite liked Déja News, but it took a big step downhill when it became
Google Groups, and two or three compulsory downgrades later I had had
enough, and have used a proper newreader since.

Google Reader was also useful, but they discontinued it pretty much
without warning. Since then I've used NewsBlur, which I like less,
though I don't remember why.
