Thanks. Maybe they updated the page later.

Most of them don't have the "Maya glyph" look that most of the Guatemalans
I met in Chicago did -- the boy in the first scene with the Pedro sweatshirt does.
Angled nose, high flat forehead.

The Mayan word for snow is ... nieve. (But did that enter the language back
home, or in Colorado?)

Well, the Chuj word, at any rate. Usually 'Mayan' without a qualifier is
taken to refer to Yucatec Maya.

You do get snow in parts of Guatemala, albeit very rarely. I'd suspect
the word was likely borrowed in Guatemala since even in lowland regions
which never get snow, Guatemalans presumably still talk about foreign
places which do get snow.

As far as I know the only attested native Mayan word used for 'snow' is
the Ch'ol root 'tinam' which also has the more common meaning 'cotton'.

[Of course, the Maya likely have a gazillion different words for cotton,
including words for falling cotton, packed cotton for skiing, cotton for
building igluit, etc.]

I wish the film had included closed captions as well as subtitles.

I intended the family as a whole, which appears to be an "L-complex,"
in Hockett's useful term, which has unfortunately been replaced by
"dialect continuum," which doesn't distinguish between "L-simplex"
(e.g. American English), where speakers of all the dialects can understand
each other, and "L-complex," where the dialects shade into each other
but the extremes don't understand each other (e.g. Western Romance).

Or, exactly 52 -- the number Margaret Atwood pulled out of her hat in
a quote that someone in alt.usage.english occasionally uses in their .sig.

My friend Steve Murray got involved in a published exchange on that
vital question, supporting the view that English and Eskimo have about
the same number of different basic roots for snow-like phenomena --
fewer than half a dozen..
