They carried the forest with them, so they never "left the forest". All H&G people carried and used wood tools, even desert, steppe, island and arctic peoples. No Homo has ever existed without wood. Even islanded aleuts & innuits collected driftwood.

Traditional paleo-anthropologists generally assume
(1) that Plio-Pleistocene human ancestors in Africa became bipedal when they left the tropical forests for the open plains,
(2) that the African apes gorillas, bonobos and chimpanzees have no or almost no fossil ancestors or relatives, and that Homo had australopithecine ancestors, to the exclusion of Gorilla & Pan.
This presentation shows that both these views are based on anthropocentric preassumptions, and proposes alternative hypotheses, primarily based on comparative biology.
