In what ways, biologically, are human beings different than other animals?

Humans were designed to walk on all fours, like the other primates, but modified to upright stance. It’s not clear if the upright stance was to accommodate our large brains, or if it allowed the development of large brains. But walking did free our forelimbs to be used in tool manufacture and carrying. (Many primates are tool users, but make tools on the spot, and don’t preserve them. Some primates have created nut cracking locations with mortars and pestles, but these are not portable. Neanderthal traded axe heads over thousands of miles.)

Our upright stance is not without cost, however. Because of the conformation of our pelvis and lumbar spine, we have a large curve, called the lumbar lordosis, which turns the spine upward, but at the cost of very high loads on the L4 and L5 vertebrae. As a result, many humans have lower back pain, slipped disks, and other disabling back conditions.

It’s not clear yet if our intelligence and adaptability is an evolutionary advantage. Based on the best available evidence, it is allowing us to change our climate into one we cannot survive in.
