Interesting. "My boss is a turkey" means he's idiotic. I gather that it's more polite than saying he's an idiot. But how did Turkey get that meaning?

One of the meanings of "turkey" is 'failure'. It's frequently used
when referring to poorly received movies.

Etymonline says:
Meaning "inferior show, failure," is 1927 in show business slang,
probably from the bird's reputation for stupidity. Meaning "stupid,
ineffectual person" is recorded from 1951.
