..... and got a Z8.

Only negative (ha ha) so far, with the FTZ-II FX adaptor is that it does
make things rather more bulky than I'd like with my 'standard' lens of
choice 28-300 zoom on. Yes I did realise that it would.

Hope they get around to doing a native Z version of the lens.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a Z8. Perhaps a bit
bulky/heavy if you walk around with the camera and several lenses, but
the camera should deliver images in excellent quality.

Almost 11:1 zoom ratio. Isn't that taking a great camera and beating it
down?

Certainly is nothing 'wrong'. Less bulky and heavy than my D850 was.
Only drawback is needing the lens adaptor to use my favorite zoom (which
means I general *don't* have to walk around with a bunch of lenses),
which does increase the length a few inches - no so convenient.

No, and no more than the same lens did on my D850, and D800 before that.

Makes me glad I took the micro-four-thirds route! I did once handle a D800 and
the 28-300 mm zoom and the bulk and weight would have made m leave the camera
at home!

Your (28-300mm + Z8 + adapter):
28-300 800g/910g/125g => 1835g

My MFT system (GX7 + 14-140 [28-280mm equivalent]):
14-140 265g/402g => 667g

I hope the Z8 version will be available (the 28-300 seems no longer to be
listed) and perhaps even better performance.

Me too. There is the 24-200, but I love that extra little reach \of the

Probably not, but I do have a rather nice 100-300 mm lens for the MFT camera
giving me a 200-600 mm reach, and I don't need a tripod for that!

Panasonic 520 g.
Nikon 2090g or more...

I used to have Nikon stuff, and I kept the APS-C DSLR and lenses, but it's
never used these days.

Well - there's something to be said for "better the camera you have with
you..."

The specs great, but the weird thing is that the camera does 8K video which is surely advanced but I'm wondering how many people can even display it? The only way to watch it in it's "glory" would be on an 80 inch or better TV.

The improvement would be the 30mm less length physical length than with
the FTZ adaptor.

Looking at 4K stuff on my 'middle-of-the-road' QLED TV is stunning, but
normal HD isn't particularly unsatisfying either. Can't imagine how 8K
could be 'better still', except as you say on a mega screen. But that's
not what gives me a stiffy anyway.
