Right. That lens is capable of good results even at the tele end, the
only problem is that at the tele end at longer distances the AF is not
reliable.
Sometimes things are perfectly in focus, sometimes not.
This comes from the limited number of focus positions (i.e. lens can
focus at 30.0, 30.1, 30.2m, but if the subject is at 30.15m due to the
shallow DOF you have a problem).
By the way, I don't know the exact focus positions - the numbers above
are just to explain the problem.
