Your main problem you had fallen in is that you assumed in advance that (0.999...) is a number without any verification or a proof, where this is also the so common mistake of ALL humans mostly in attacking serious mental problem

Then what would convence you that your assumption actually is quite false from the beginning?

Nothing I suppose would make you think wisely then!
