It does, but increases the leakage concentration from the dearly
departed. In Melbourne a long time ago the city drains were emitting
a dreadful smell, and this was traced back to the central cemetery. No
doubt regulations have been tightened. Anyway about 70% of
interments are now cremations.

In Camogli (Italy) in 2021 there was a landslide and the cemetery
collapsed into the sea:
