It has never been easier to understand the connection between slope and area now that the best kept secret (The Holy Grail of Calculus) is revealed in one very simple theorem whose identity says it correctly for the first time in human history:

(f(x+h)-f(x))/h = f'(x) + Q(x,h)

where (f(x+h)-f(x))/h is the rise/run slope of a non-parallel secant line with endpoints (x,f(x)) and (x+h, f(x+h))
and f'(x) is the rise/run slope of the tangent line anchored at x
and Q(x,h) is the difference between these two slopes.

It took the genius of John Gabriel to solve the area and tangent line problem rigorously for the first time in human history. This knowledge evaded everyone who sought after it, even the so-called greats Newton, Leibniz, Cauchy and Weierstrass failed to comprehend that the formulation of calculus is 100% geometric. There is no need for limit theory, infinity or infinitesimals.
