Good grief. "Aramaic" is a dozen or more languages. I suspect
this was Biblical Aramaic..

The only legitimate Semitic one is Ge`ez, because there's a living
reading-tradition -- but whether the fellow was using that, or using
an Amharic pronunciation, I can't say.

Other than the "ethnic" ones like that, was it an excuse for the guy
to dress up in costumes?
