New motorcycle cops (motors) in my city were trained in a large empty
parking lot. Only officers and sergeants were allowed to ride at the
time. A new motor lieutenant demanded training so that he could ride. A
few days out he ran into a cement light pole base and seriously injured
himself (and the bike). After that no more lieutenants were ever allowed
to ride again.

Linux is very close to UNIX. Even more so than the Mac. Everything can
be done on a Linux-Machine. But I admit it is not in all cases for the
absolute beginners.

But even the absolute beginners can use a Linux distribution with ease
when they are not brainwashed by 20 years of Windows- or Mac-use.

BTW: I use the Terminal also on my Macs to do some very specific things.

Evolution is an alternative PIM. I do not like it as I hate Outlook
because it is $Microsoft-Chaos like everything else from this company.

Our Canton (like a state in the US) even supports Linux for the tax
declaration. The software is written in Java anyway so the cost for this
adaptation is rather limited.

My recently set up Mint found my HP-Printer out of the box and even the
scan-functionality works out of the box perfectly. Absolutely no need to
look for drivers and the like. It works more seamingless than on Mac
where HP tries to spy on users with its proprietary software.

Running over a cone is less embarrassing than dropping your motorcycle
several times. My excuse is I was a newbie though...

This resulted in a fall which pretty much ended his MC riding :-(
