If the light blinks for 1 minute after you start the car, you have a problem with the tire pressure monitor system. If you have a steady light you should check the tire pressure. I've had that problem for years. The sensors have to be replaced because all 4 batteries in the sensors have run out of juice. Unfortunately, to replace the sensors, you have to dismount the tires from the rim.
On a 2011 RAV4, I can't see ever replacing the sensors. That light is pretty annoying. I find that meditation helps. It looks like your friend has a Hybrid, that's cool.
