After all, to most of the people using the term, their political foes
have nothing whatever to do with Hitler, Mussolini or Franco - and of
course most of these faux "Fascists" do not believe anything that
would resemble anything that aforementioned leaders would recognize as
fascist. Nor would many of the users of the term have actually READ
books like Mein Kampf etc. (I have - and to my mind that makes me more
of an anti-Fascist than 99.99% of the faux "Antifas")

Even though in the post WW2 era both the US and Canada have taken in
many former Germans, Italians and Spaniards as immigrants who
presumably would have a better idea of what Fascism actually is than
your typical North American.

(Admittedly most of the first generation like my Polish father-in-law
who got out of Poland in August 1939 just ahead of the panzers are now
no longer with us - but their children and grandchildren definitely
are and few of them are with the faux "Antifas")
