Our club presently uses covers for our Blaniks and B4 here in Florida. They're a real pain to put on and off. Some members are suggesting we nix the covers.
What do y'all think?

There are many aluminum aircraft stored outside without covers here in Florida. The only area that needs covering from UV damage is the canopy.

Electronics are another issue.

Look at the paint of any aircraft that has spent a long tied outside.
Maybe not a problem in Florida, but check out the ramp queens at Moriarty.

Do a test: keep one wing cover on and the other one off for a full season. Check the difference at the end - and then kick yourself for not putting on both covers!
Why are the current covers a pain to put on?

My L-33 came with a canopy cover and I had covers made for the wings to keep it tied down in South Florida. The ailerons and rudder were fabric covered. I think it was worth the effort putting on the covers to keep the wings clean and water out of the spoiler boxes, etc. Putting covers on is a lot easier than assembly/disassembly. I suggest the club have a "wax on - wax off" party to get the gliders nice and shiny and then use the covers to keep them looking nice for a lot longer.

Hey Phoenix, if you guys really cannot stand to take care of your toys, I would be happy to take the covers off your hands.
