BillPay creating the paper check for me is about as modern as the thing
called "fax": create document on computer, print on paper, send as fax,
gets printed by receiving fax machine, scan the paper, store on
computer. In 2022?

A lot of companies accept electronic payment via "bill pay".
Unfortunately, most of mine don't so my bill pay function sends a paper
check which takes about a week. It does, however, save me the hassle of
writing the check, stamps, envelopes, etc., so I just do it (and roll my
eyes).

Love these "high-speed digital computers"...

Those $2 are directly taken away from what you think you are giving to
the SSA. There must be a better way to pass *our* money around without

Take a photo of both sides of the check and send them the photos by email. Most banks will deposit checks that are just photos. That is totally electronic (well, you do have to make out the check).

Pay online with a credit card which gives you 2% back. There are quiet a few around like city double cash.
This way you get the $2 (or slightly less) instead of the credit card company. That’s what I do.
You can then donate the $2 back to SSA if you wish…
