Disabling 2G is a security feature available on newer Android phones. In
the U.S., T-Mobile is the only major carrier still running a 2G network
at least for the short-term. You'd rarely need to use 2G so disabling it
is not a problem, and E911 service on 2G is not disabled. 2G is now
primarily used for IOT devices with old modems.

The article urges readers to Tweet Apple and ask them to do the same
thing on iPhone.

Um, Pixels only? Although I did find a mention that some Samsung models
have this but the only option without 2G in my S21 phone is "3G only". I
think I'll skip that one.

Take a look at these two screenshots...
<https://i.postimg.cc/FFByv7Ps/bands01.jpg> Hidden Network-Mode Activity
<https://i.postimg.cc/ZKnwPGQ0/bands02.jpg> Hidden Band-Selection Activity

I have a 5G phone essentially by accident where the battery is so huge and
where my data is unlimited (also by accident) that I keep the cellular data
on all the time lately (as there is no downside anymore to cellular data).
<https://i.postimg.cc/zf9w1tGZ/speedtest07.jpg> *255Mbps*

With that in mind, I get "whatever G" I get at whatever time I get it.
I don't even _know_ which "whatever G" I'm getting at any given time.

Serious question...
*Why does it even matter which "G" I'm using at any given time point?*

If you try to avoid it won't work. 3G is the fallback if 4G (LTE) is not
available. So is 2G for 3G where available. My Pixel 4 with Android 12
does not have the switch.

Given any "G" is available to our phones, why does it even matter to us
which "G" any one of us is currently consuming at any given time point?
