Does someone know what Discus 2ax is? I found quite a bit of information about Ventus 2ax/bx, but I can’t to find anything related to Discus 2ax. I appreciate any info related to the subject. Regards .

Not completely sure but the "x" ships got a thinner horizontal tail and improved joint between the horizontal and vertical tails. Possibly this is a later production version with the thinner horizontal, or an earlier one converted.

The 'x' means you painted an 'x' after the 'a'. That's it. There is no such formal designation or difference in production versions.

Mr. Scutter may be correct. However, there's some info to suggest that the Ventus2ax is an "x" because it has Maughmer winglets, perhaps indicating that a Discus2ax is one with such winglets. http://www.mandhsoaring.com/why%20winglets/wl-it.pdf

Boy-racers paint the 'x' on their self-designated tricked-out Discus 2's which invariably feature the Maughmer winglets. I painted the 'x' myself on my Maughmer-equipped Discus 2a, just a few SN's before the linked Discus 2a'x' so I could be cool too. There is no formal or legal type designation 2ax.. It's just for fun, you'll see the same on Cirrus's in club-class (there is a Cirrus 2cxaT in Australia) but as a retired boy-racer I think you would not be 'entitled' to self-designate yourself an 'x' if you didn't have the latest winglets.

I cannot help with the Discus 2cx designation, if there is such an animal?
But the V2 and V2CX have identical fuselages and crash protection.
They are different from the V1a,b,c with a 5" wheel, larger cockpit
and better side to side vision for tall pilots. V2CX has new fin,
rudder and stab, as well as 18m tips with new planform, less
dihedral, new airfoil, flaperons that extend to the tip, and winglets.
MTOW is 600kg vs the 525KG of the V2. Handling is superb in
either and much better than the V1a,b,c. Noticeable high speed
performance advantage with the 2CX over the 2C.

I believe the fuselage changed significantly from the first V2 to the V2c. Also, early V2 had 4-inch main gear wheel and mechanical brake. Wings and horizontal stab changed fromV2c to V2cx (including addition of more conventional winglets). I'd say that even if the "c" is is marginally slower than the cx, it's still prettier (my bias as an owner...)

That reply is true of the Ventus 2a/b, but the Discus 2 had the thinner tailplane from the start.
