Hi,

I've got an Android J7 2018, Android 9, with One UI Desktop. See the app
shown on this link:

https://postimg.cc/fJFM7srs

I don't remember by who or when the app was installed, but it disappeared
today, and I'd like to get it back. The app was a utility app, which when
tapped, opened a list of utilities (power, brightness, etc.) with six on
the first list, and then you'd swipe to get six more on the next list).

The circle with the four squares you see is transparent, and that's why I
increased the brightness on the screen shot (taken back in July, lucky I
still had it) so that readers could see it.

Anyone know where this app came from? I did look at the play store and the
galaxy store.

It may or may not be a Samsung app.

Was it actually an app, or could it have been a group that had been created by
dropping multiple app icons on top of each other?

I defer to Andy on most things Android, where if he's wrong, what about it
being a widget entry (I've seen stuff looking like that when long pressing).

Being a kind-hearted always helpful person, I took a look at the icons on
Google Play which _might_ be that icon which the OP kindly screenshotted.

I couldn't find the exact icon but saw only similar ghosting icons...
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.myinnos.AppManager>

Another option for the OP, if it is an app, is simply list all the apps and
look to see if that icon shows up in that list.
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps>

However, this app is the best app on the planet for managing your apps.
<https://github.com/MuntashirAkon/AppManager>

If Andy is correct, then it should be in the Android Material Design icons.
<https://material.io/design/platform-guidance/android-icons.html>

I looked for a while for the OP but there are billions to scroll through.

Found it. Well, it found me. This morning the round icon just
reappeared in the same spot on my home screen. There was also a
notification that showed the "Accessibility Assistant" was on. So I
searched "Accessibility Assistant", and found that it is an Android
feature installed with my OS/desktop version.

On a pixel running android12, that feature looks very different, after enabling
the "accessibility button" I get a green circle with 3 dots in the bottom/left
corner.

If I press that, I get a pastel coloured 3x3 grid of icons eating the bottom
half of the screen, with <- and -> buttons to scroll to other pages of icons

To continue to be purposefully helpful, I ran the sequence Andy & Boris ran.
This confirmed almost exactly what Boris had reported previously.

Turn "Assistant menu" on ===> the strange icon Boris saw shows up
Turn "Assistant menu" off ===> the strange icon Boris saw goes away

I'm glad we both tried to help Boris because I learned something from it.

That begs a question of how to _change_ the operations from those defaults?
<https://i.postimg.cc/9Mj66mFy/assist02.jpg> Can you change the options?

Is there a way to change which icon options show up in that homescreen
Assistant Menu Widget?
