The LX7007 Pro IGC we're now flying with goes into "computing security"
mode after landing, as it is supposed to, to finalize the flight log in
the sense of IGC file security. (This model does not generate an IGC
file, rather, a file in a proprietary format that is also acceptable to
the IGC.) The problem is, this is supposed to take "a minute", but in
our case, after it says "computing security" it never seems to complete
that, even after 10 minutes or more. This prevents us from using this
device as an IGC certified flight recorder. What can be the matter?
We've had the internal battery replaced this year, and officially
re-sealed, when it boots up it says "security OK".

I can think of two possibilities:

Perhaps the internal memory is full?
Do you have an SD card in the slot? Is it correctly formatted (newer - bigger - cards may be incompatible)?

There are two batteries in the LX7007 Pro IGC. I owned one a few years ago, and I had to replace both to get it working properly. If the GPS battery is dead, the epoch might be wrong, which might set an alarm that the position is not reliable; no way to see it, but it might affect a security check from the IGC recording part of the FR.

We replaced both batteries this year, and the reported GPS date is
correct. There is a not-too-large SD card in it. I'll check/clear the
internal memory when I get the chance.

As mentioned, the formatting is important. Old gear needs old file
systems, like FAT or FAT32. Definitely not NTFS.

Silly Question, but is the Protect Switch on the SD Card in the NOT
PROTECTED Position?

Worth visiting the SD Association site:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
and using their formatter (but only for SD cards.

I'll check when I get the chance, but this LX7007 has successfully
written data to this SD card in the past. Also, the transfer to the SD
card is a separate step. When it is "computing security" the LX7007 is
writing to its internal memory (which I'll check to make sure it is not
full, but you'd think it would tell you that explicitly?).

What is SUPPOSED to happen is that older traces are deleted as more
memory is required, so no message is required. However, I can remember
Cambridge having a problem in this area in the dim and distant past, so
unlikely but not impossible.

Have you contacted LX or asked on the LXNAV group?

The LX7007 is old (from before the company split), not supported, and
apparently not discussed in that group. This specific version has the
SD card slot, which is a major advantage over the older models. Other
than this issue, the one we have seems to work fine, for nav and as a
vario, now that we've figured out which setting makes the vario audio
bearable :-)

The LX7007 is a product made by LX Navigation - have you asked them about this issue (yes or no)?
