What does a new, no frills ASK-21 go for with basic instrumentation?

Separately, how much is the Cobra Trailer cost that's fitted for a ASK-21?

Lastly, ball park, what does it cost to ship the glider in its trailer to Baltimore or elsewhere on the east coast?

Or you could ask for a quote directly from Schleicher. In any case, with Rex or through Uli, the price will be in Euros. Quote should be in your inbox within days - including most options.

Answer: ~$150k Euro with trailer before shipping.

I presume the DG-1001 Club (fixed gear) runs in the same price range or a bit more with 20M wingtip extensions option.

It would be nice if the SZD Perkoz was certificated in the U.S.

I'm sure this is driving the price of used 2-seaters up, especially if they have a useful load of 420 lbs. or greater. Not much available on the used market anymore.

Euro is incredibly weak at the moment. You might want to see if you can
prepay and lock in this price, before any price rises (manufacturers are
under big cost pressures, and increases are quite likely, even if this
price has recently been raised).

I would also consider PW-6U. It will cost less then ASK-21 by at least a third. That glider has the FAA type certificate. I have flown ASK-21 many times and personally I prefer PW-6U. Best regards. http://www.szdjezow.com.pl/

The problem I see with the PW-6 is, well, is how it looks.

No way would you catch me in that thing.

I've given several hundred rides in a ASK-21 and that is a nice aircraft!

So, you have not flown in PW-6 and you are already discounting it. If look is all you want by all means, go ahead. I flew both and can assure you that PW-6 behaves very much like a very modern glider. This sport is not doing very well. For a country of 330 million people only very few enjoy the beauty of the engineless flight. Cost plays some role. Equipment another one. We are still training pilots in 2-33’s. We are lacking tow planes, personnel, and many more. In few years it will be just self-launchers enjoying our sport, but yeah ……
