UH, it was a gas gas spring and I took it apart , realized that I could convert it to a spring damper. With a bit of Purist Engineering, welding and fabricating I had it back on the trailer in about two hours. see Facebook soaring forum pic. A spring assembly should have been used initially and would have served the purpose for many years to come. Old Bob, The Purist.
