The Android 11 Jasymca (matlab+maxima clone) keyboard covers the input area,
whereas in prior android versions, the program resized to accomodate the
keyboard. Is there any fix? Only thing so far is I made the keyboard
translucent.

Search yields this answer, but I have no idea how to implement it:

onCreate()

getWindow().setSoftInputMode(WindowManager.LayoutParams.SOFT_INPUT_ADJUST_RESIZE);

Further, why has it worked fine for a decade in previous versions of android??

Wow! Android Bug 5497. I got discouraged and tried installing other apps
like maxima, scilab, addi and r-console, all of which had same problem.

Shouldn't Google provide an app that will patch this bug?

Jasymca is my most essential app. So I need to keep an old phone around just
to run that app? Is Android 11 the new "New Coke"?
