In Australia we're seeing science ignorant politicians dealing
with the simple mathematical fact that something that is 1/2 as
dangerous but 10 times more infectious leads to overwhelmed medical systems.

Multiplying an exponential by a tiny number is still an exponential
and only delays the hockeystick by a small number of days.

If cases are doubling in a day and deaths are only 1 in 1000 of cases
than cases will start to look like cases after log(1000)/log(2) ==
~10 days.
When a medical system gets overwhelmed then having to go to hospital
with a broken leg can get very very dangerous.
