Is there an app I can put on my tablet to get notifications from my phone
about calls and messages, like the Phonelink Windows app? Being housebound
I don't usually carry my phone around but I almost always have my tablet
with me.

If they are both Samsung devices then you can, depending on the phone
and where you purchased it.

The other way is to use Google Voice instead of your native mobile number.

Check if your cellular provider has a simultaneous ring feature. That
has them call multiple numbers on an incoming call. With simultaneous
ring, all the listed phone numbers are called at the same time. You can
pick up any of the phones to take the call.

Check if your home phone provider (POTS, VOIP, whatever) also has the
simultaneous ring feature.

Check with your providers if they have a text-to-email feature. That
has them send you an e-mailed copy of incoming texts. You get texts via
e-mail. You can then respond to the text using SMS or by sending an
reply via e-mail.

You don't need an app on every phone. You move the onus upon the
service provider to simultaneously ring all your phones, and send you
e-mail copies of incoming texts. They do the work, not you nor an app.

You didn't mention if your tablet can do phone calls and texts. It
would need a SIM card and cellular radio to do calls and texts. It
would need either a cellular (data) radio or wifi radio (to your home
router/modem that has wifi connectivity) to do e-mails to get e-mailed
copies of your texts. "Tablet" is far too vague to know what your
tablet can do. Whatever tablet you have must have some method of
connectivity to get anything regarding notifications (calls, texts,
e-mail) from either your telco or cellular provider.
