Any recommendations for a Usenet app for Android. Only needed for text

I'm using PhoNews on this Chromebook that I'm currently posting with. I got
the paid version to get rid of the ads. The app is a PITA to use but is the
only one I've found so far that will work on this device without needing OS
(and security loss) modification. It has a bug that occasionally scrambles
the password that requires rebooting the app. I have always preferred the
Groundhog newsreader but it breaks after Android 9. Fortunately my Amazon
tablets Fire OS is at Android 9 so I still get to use it with them but
probably not much longer (fingers crossed)...

The consensus is always the same and has never changed over the years.

Groundhog & PiaoHong come up the most, but instead of repeating the same
question which has been asked more than any other question, why not search?

PiaoHong no longer works correctly on any of my devices. Though set for
downloading 300 threads mine stops at 10 or less (and sometimes none). YMMV
depending on your device...

You're confirming what I said which has been said many times over the years
that it's the most asked for app on this newsgroup that has no good answer.

Asking the same question over and over isn't going to change those answers.

post already made hundreds of times already, that they copy & paste anew.

To read and/or search this ng is too difficult for every one of them.

None of those are new people but even if they were, a search is expected.

FWIW I have not seen that with PiaoHong's NewsGroup Reader (the free app).
And it is still working here after a recent Android upgrade to Android 13.

Note for readers: there are _two_ Usenet apps from PiaoHong

Searching comes up with possible candidates, which may have reviews. I
don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very wary in general of reviews.
So, much better to ask for recommendations - which do change from time to
time - in a NG such as this where it's bang on topic.

Feel free to disagree with me. I'm sure many of you will.

Thanks. That seems to work pretty well. It will only let you read on the
free version. I'll see how it goes over the next few days before
upgrading to the paid version, which will allow posting.

Yes, PiaoHong wouldn't work on my phone either (Pixel 6a running Android
13). I couldn't even subscribe to any groups.

accurate I last used it about 20 years ago. So I'm figuring everything

re-download it (paid version) to this phone (Galaxy S10+, Android
12) from the Play Store. As you can see it screws up the quotes.
I had forgotten that. Also it only retrieved 9 threads. So still

You should be thankful. People using PiaHong do not make friends in the
Usenet. It does not follow any conventions or rules. It is simply
"kaputt" by design.

Anyway, thanks to all those that helped. PhoNews seems to work pretty
well on my Pixel 6a running Android 13. At least on the reading side.
I'll give it a bit longer of a test before upgrading to the paid
version, which allows posting.

It's nice to be back on Usenet after all these years. It has reminded
about every newsgroup having their resident 'Character' though :-)
