> True. When you cut a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood into four equal pieces to make shelves or sides to a box. You end up with four pieces that are 23 15/16" x 47 15/16". Assuming 1/8" saw blade kerf. Not 2' x 4' exactly. Assuming exactness matters, or not.

Over here our plywood is nominally 4' x 8' but in reality it's a metric size and thus slightly larger.Thus you can allow for the kerf and still have 24" x 48" when the pieces are cut.
