Hi, whilst gaining more space on my desktop Windows 10, I deleted the thumbnails. Now I can't tell what an image is unless I open it. Can anyone here tell me how to get the thumbnails to show the image again?

If you can and do it'll be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Desktop space? I don't see a problem:
<http://www.learnbydestroying.com/jeffl/crud/desktop.jpg>
When I routinely run out of desktop space from too many thumbnails and
icons, I think about buying a bigger monitor. My current monitor is a
24 inch 1920x1200. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a larger 4K monitor?
Note: If you're desperate for additional space on your desktop, but
don't want to purge the mess quite yet, you can decrease the icon size
and spacing by holding down the control key and scrolling up or down
with the mouse wheel. Do it slowly, one click at a time, or you may
not be able to restore your desktop to it's current layout.

The problem wasn't space for the thumbnails layout or even displaying the thumbnails themselves. The problem was that images in the thumbnails and on the Folders had disappeared. Thus, by just looking at a thumbnail or Folder icon, it was impossible to see what image that file contained. Bloody annoying that was. I'm glad it rectified itself.

Cheers

The problem was corrupted icon and thumbnail cache databases. Usually,
it's a simple matter to just erase the IconCache.db file, reboot, and
it will rebuild the file from scratch. However, if that doesn't fix
ALL the icons and thumbnails, you'll need to manually delete some (not
all) of other icon db (database) files.
<https://www.windowscentral.com/how-reset-icon-cache-database-windows-10>
There are also scripts and batch files to make things easier:
<https://www.download3k.com/articles/How-to-Rebuild-the-Icon-Cache-in-Windows-10-01425>
Unfortunately, I have no idea what causes the corrupted cache
problems. It's been a problem with Windoze since Win XP and shows no
sign of disappearing.
