Do you not read? Temporary regulations last for 180 days. Any regulation in effect for more than 180 days has to be passed as a permanent regulation. Just like a statute, it can be written with a sunset clause or repealed. https://osha.oregon.gov/OSHARules/div1/437-001-0744.pdf The moronic Alt right outrage machine needs to STFU. Also, passing a permanent regulation triggers notice and comment and a lot of other process, which gives the oppressed people an opportunity to emote about being born in a free country.

Jay, exactly why are you arguing with Andre quoting a report? Is this something you are compelled to do simply because it is Andre or me?

Dear Dope, because the caption of his post is "Oregon Crazies at it again," when there is in fact nothing crazy about the mundane act of passing a regulation that will remain in effect for more than 180 days. This story has also made the rounds on Faux News as part of its perpetual effort to generate outrage.

Back when I was the boy genius of advertising, I knew Otto Skorzeny, Hitler's favorite commando, who rescued Mussolini, deposed Horthy in Hungary, etc, known as the "most dangerous man in Europe". On an occasion when I went to meet him with both my arms and both my legs in plaster after a motor racing incident, Skorzeny called my chairman to complain that I came to a meeting with him -- without a tie!

NEVER! There whole existence is predicated on being mad about something.

See
<https://media1.fdncms.com/bend/imager/u/blog/15752239/funnies2-7eb48885e24210e4.jpg>

The bottom line is that Cruz, and other Republicans, have done the
actuarial calculations to game this out.

What matters most is messaging effectively against Democrats. Fauci is a
convenient target, highly-educated, widely respected, honest to a fault.

If some people perceive the Republican narrative as being pro-Covid, so
be it.

If the Republican messaging results in a few more deaths among their
supporters, it is inconsequential compared to the voters they gain by
attacking a popular member of a Democratic administration.

The whole Ted Cruz/Ron DeSantis/Marjorie Greene/Josh Hawley/Lauren
Boebert machine depends on the supply of highly uneducated people that
are clueless enough to believe the rhetoric that they spew.

No, I over-react because I'm tired of morons writing about subjects beyond their understanding for the sole purpose of inflaming others -- particularly narcissistic claimed "professional polemicists" allegedly living in Ireland who don't even pay US taxes. Go ride that monstrosity you call a bicycle.

The real question is "what should be done?" Lock down and masks is,
one solution and Do nothing is another. And the best solution is?

Aw, come on, Rideablot, I'm not feeding the troll; I'm just posting what I always posted, amusing sidelights on the world passing by a cyclist's window. Beattie had some bad luck and pain recently, and now his temper is so short, he's going nuclear at everyone, even a harmless little old bespectacled intellectual on a faraway island. Anyway, you don't pay US taxes either, do you Rideablot? (If you do, you should fire your accountant.) So be careful that Beattie doesn't turn on you next.

And we warned him that we would hold him responsible for Joe Biden's fuckups, not to mention that useless cackling hyena he elevated grotesquely beyond her abilities because she was a woman and intersectionally of some not too dark color.

> No, I over-react because

The point is that you overreact because I'm. You're responsible for this rolling fuckup of the Biden-Harris Administration and the damage it is doing to America both internally to the wellbeing of its citizens and externally to its image. It demonstrates the weakness of your position to explode in public at the merest mention of these fuckups that you're responsible for, and always knew you would be responsible for.

>I'm tired of morons

Join the club, sport. I've been screamed at by far more important and dangerous wrongdoers than you. They're gone, some before firing squads, some merely in disgrace without their pensions, some of excess adrenaline from rage..

>writing about subjects beyond their understanding

Really? You think I'd fail to understand a bit of bureaucratic folderol? You think I'd fail to grasp the perfectly transparent explanation in the linked article? Or are you really dumb enough to think I'd post a link to something I haven't read and drained of understanding and mean. Man, you're so crazed with rage, you'll fall off your perch into the rest of the inmates in Asylum Portland.

>for the sole purpose of inflaming others

The only people who didn't think that article was amusing were Donkey Party-goers who can't hold their liquor -- and of course the guilty parties, including you.

>-- particularly narcissistic

Oh deary O'Leary, can't you think of something more original than that? By the way, only a narcissist like you thinks he has a right not to be "inflamed" by people holding and publishing views opposed to yours. In addition, trying to shut people up unless they express only your views -and don't hold you responsible for the dire outcome of those views -- makes you a fascist scumbag as well. By contrast, the wretched Scharfie is careful, whatever he thinks, to tell only lies that the good people are too bored to refute.

>claimed "professional polemicists"

This thread is already a good illustration of me running circles around you, laughing. As if anyone, except apparently you, needed another demonstration... What's wrong with you, man? You're unnecessarily making enemies of people who in the normal course of events, once this crisis-interregnum is over, will allow you to confess and purge your guilt, and then agree with you on much.

>allegedly living in Ireland

Where do you think I am, Florida? Nah, I can look out of my study window and through the soft day (Irish euphemism for a constant drizzle) see the living room patio, green, beyond that the old stable wall, green with creeper and stuff growing in front of it, and behind that the orchard down to the gully (not actually in view though I can also see the hill beyond and through the bare trees barely, because there are also evergreens getting in the way, make out patches of white on the houses about a mile away. Looks like Ireland to me, the soft rain on the skylights of my studio sounds like Ireland, and if I went out I'd get wet just like in Ireland. Duh. You're so stressed out, my man, that you sound just like that stubborn idiot Franki-boy Krygowski of the pink panties, who claimed to know more about my environment, which he had never seen, than I do.

>who don't even pay US taxes.

Why should I ever pay US taxes when I don't live there? You're off your rocker, sport.

>Go ride that monstrosity you call a bicycle.

My condolences for your poor judgement and not being able to afford a real bike like my Utopia Kranich ("the Rolls-Royce of bicycles").

> -- Jay Beattie.

Which one? There's an urbane Portland lawyer who talks sense, and then there's a clown, claiming to be a defender of Portland atrocities, who needlessly makes enemies.

You are a total moron that knows nothing and loves to make it public. The International Space Station is LESS biologically secure than the Class 4 Containment Facility in Wuhan and you like all of your fucking little authoritarian bastard pals are telling people that a mask makes you safe. Are you even aware of what is inside of a Class 4 facility?

Scharf, on your smartest day you couldn't solve a Rubix Cube. Only to someone like you would you be complete safe from a virus by wearing some paper over your face. And only to people like you would you believe that the vaccines are helping when those states with the lowest participation in vaccinations have lower infection rates than those with higher. California is about to turn upside down and I'll be sure to publish your postings in all of your local papers. We can see the :Lame Stream Media starting to turn around after their viewership has reached an all time low and the far left wing radical "anchors" have been true to their names and are dragging their networks down further and further.

You are utter filth and no doubt all of your neighbors all ready know that.

Jay, you are a cripple and will soon follow Jeff with the total inability to ride. The one thing that made you bearable was the fact that you were actually a cyclist which could not be said of Jeff or John or Ridesnever. While Frank doesn't ride much, at least he makes a try at it and you won't be up to those standards very soon.

I did 45 miles yesterday, probably faster than you could -- with a healing broken leg. Out here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bytb22qAXuNnpB139 (actual iPhone photo from prior ride). Including the dreaded Bradley rollers. https://tinyurl.com/5n7kt2d7 Keep scrolling up the road -- they just keep going: https://tinyurl.com/y6takjkw Mostly seated since climbing out of the saddle still hurts, and my quads are still weak.

I'm riding 5-6 days a week, although one day may be on an ebike. My bikes all work, too. And I'm riding in the rain and cold. You couldn't bear a single winter riding in the PNW. With that said, it was cold and blue skies yesterday, so I rode the fenderless Trek SLR, which was flawless -- no over-shifts or derailleurs falling off. Mechanicing this time of year is basically washing and lubing, although I may get some new tires for the commuter.

Tell me, am I suppose to be impressed that your Di2 shifts flawlessly? So does mine. Plus all of the new Campy stuff has had the shifting mechanisms redesigned and they too shift flawlessly. So both the 10 speeds and the 11 speed shift without a problem. I must admit - I had to pump up the tires on the Merlin a couple of days ago. Since it will be raining for the rest of the week more or less, I can wash the bike and it will remain clean.

A leg broken in that manner will get worse and worse with arthritis pain. So you might as well get in all of the riding you can. And don't go skiing again.

Okay, now that Beattie has been permitted his spittle-spraying fifteen minutes of rage (getting pretty extended, these quarter hours of rage; soon they will become pathological), can we discuss the real point of the article I like like adults? Pretty please!

The real point is that the usual Portland control-freaks (and they're very freakish indeed) are trying to make the Chinese Virus Panic into a permanent feature of American politics with rolling mask mandates. The political utility of COViD in elections they need to steal is just too great for the Donkey Party to resist. Scharfie, a born soviet commissar type, was slavering at the jaws only a couple of days ago about the opportunities for control-freakery presented to the Left by the unvaccinated.

>Yes, Democracy would be really great if it weren't for that damned citizenry!

Well, democracy worked pretty well for the Athenians but it was a bit
different then the modern version. In Athens women, slaves,
non-citizens, those who had not completed their military training and
maintained their weapons and those who had not paid their taxes were
denied the vote. This left, perhaps,30% of the population who were
eligible to vote.

And it worked pretty well in the little New England town I grew up in
where a "town Meeting" was held each year to elect a "Select Man" who
managed things for the coming year. And, each year the Select Man and
the heads of the various departments, roads, water, police, etc. had
to stand up in front of the town and answer for their sins. "Why did
Mrs. Jones' street get the snow plowed before my street?" or "Why did
my water get turned off last week?".

This story has also made the rounds on Faux News as part of its perpetual effort to generate outrage.

The International Space Station is LESS biologically secure than the Class 4 Containment Facility in Wuhan and you like all of your fucking little authoritarian bastard pals are telling people that a mask makes you safe. Are you even aware of what is inside of a Class 4 facility?

And you know this? How? Did you get into the jug wine again last night
and flapped your wings and flew up and had a good peek at the Space
Station? Or did you forget to take your medication yesterday and had
these fantastic dreams last night?

Or you just telling lies... again?
