After a rant on the Avro Arrow I looked for similar aircraft that weren't
cancelled and found the A-5. After ballistic missiles obsoleted its original
role it was repurposed into recon. They had a high loss rate over Vietnam
though that wouldn't have affected a land based interceptor. How useful
really was it?

They sure looked neat and wonderful though!

While I was overseas, and when I was safe in Okinawa,
and for years afterward back home I was on a
1/700 scale navy ship building binge.
One of my aircraft carriers had some of those A-5
on deck.
