It started bad, I got about a half mile up the road to meet the group and the saddle connection on the seat post came apart and I could only find two of the three missing pieces,

The wind had been blowing really hard all night but with dawn had dropped down to light. I went back to my home to pick up the spare bike and told everyone else to take a slight detour past my home where I'd wait for them. Well "all of them" turned out to be two others since the rest were too smart to come out in the wind.

About half way to the coffee stop the wind returned and is was like climbing a hill. One of the riders who hadn't ridden in six weeks could barely hold 8 mph into it and we were traveling cross wind!

When we got to Starbucks you couldn't go in because they didn't have sufficient personnel to man the counters! So we ordered over the drive through and WALKED through.

One of the guys who hadn't ridden had driven down and the slow guy begged a ride back. Which was just as well. After coffee the way back was directly into the wind and on our route six trees had been uprooted and knocked down.. Even cars seemed to be having a difficult time especially in one spot where a tall tree had been knocked down across two lanes in one direction. I allowed a car to pass and went entirely into the opposite lane to get around it. Finally up on a landfill that had turned downwind I was actually coasting at 13 mph without pedaling. The trail and other traffic on the bike path kept me from the 30 mph that I could easily achieve. All of the "Road Work" signs were knocked over and when I finally got across the bridge I had to ride on the road into the entrance to the Estuary bike path via the roadway which had sharp speedbumps on it. The wind was so hard that in places you could hardly do 8 mph and it felt like you were climbing a hill. I was trying not to get too far ahead of my riding partner but he was on a touring bike that was very slow.

We got involved on a main road again and had to be very careful because of the hard and gusty wind made in difficult to hold a course. Finally I got out onto the bay trail again and since the wind was coming from the opposite direction from normal the landfill blocked the worst of it off. Back onto a city street but we were among the houses and factories etc. So it wasn't nearly as bad. Made it home a full hour later than normal for 25 miles.

Now I have to order a new seatpost that will accommodate 9 mm rails.

There are several types of seatposts that will handle the 9 mm rails. The one that I had that came unscrewed and lost the lower saddle piece is this sort: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124219878306?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110018%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.COMPLISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140109102600%26meid%3D6e76d809b5454ac5b4d85a531a4d46a0%26pid%3D100041%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D332572499860%26itm%3D124219878306%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2508447%26algv%3DItemStripV101HighAdFeeWithCompV3Ranker%26brand%3DTOSEEK&_trksid=p2508447.c100041.m2061&amdata=cksum%3A1242198783066e76d809b5454ac5b4d85a531a4d46a0%7Cenc%3AAQAGAAACAMLpQVr4UreLoBO%252FzrvRIpeDZ4coQpS9W2JNuXcnEq%252BNZarAJ8gAzWgwfg0E18qsr50anvuq1I0qDkMqcq6YYfuiaZGYUI214D%252BdjjPi%252F68qGiSlWRmvpQ5MPcKDAREnF%252FUDznUyHkPgBrdw12F02LU9u7j4Uy3dUVrrgtJCo%252FN2yEaywq48%252B%252FGoPYQ%252FP%252B2X7f%252FLMlaXxk7bUfVe13iklzBGXWahvrm7u2l%252ByNCf4ypTkEoDlFVPdR%252Bcp0BMObYIWH1GjGSvk6QDgSLrCi7EpcbOE2kUa%252FY9m6h%252B%252FZcfYmSoW1kx%252B3%252BURLbzWwzZ7zYy3vwGLlAkCTqYALqOE2jnW%252Ffp7eh%252BNYFVdjAxK%252B%252FYgjWEx%252B6OEbvJ%252BaMI1DBStieFY28U589tDMR6t3U5P5xxAPX5u2hqLA2Jq8su23KnHqsIv%252B1xO9PDC%252F9tM%252BtVzvB9nzP7U4u3VJMh1bC9t065ywKHyrJurag%252B%252BUHH0YsT7TUlLhKkFgjmotjYxfABwv4XgAFSMZWFQS5sWRT5uhAv0NvIaov8fszYGzXO6QAuwB2rN7FwzAsU8Y4Y%252BK9us%252BQ2LNesSjVRnAl9XQnI1zd7exin232IsomO6e6YYP6FTPd8vde5%252BAgdXtsoFMYCTv8a1Vg1HrEsaqlcmFWYxyrX5rKE5l3SR0LT69VNqQgZUh26%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2508447

Another is the Bontrager mechanism kind like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/301987762795?hash=item464fdf926b:g:kF8AAOSwWRBh6Mbb The trouble with these is that it tends to slip and the seat angle will change and you tend to tighten them too much and the bolt eventually fractures.

There is this sort - https://www.ebay.com/itm/194731049177?hash=item2d56e000d9:g:odUAAOSwKGRh3xRC I bought one of these since it seemed as if it should work. The one I got simply WOULD NOT mount a 9 mm carbon oval rail. Perhaps they changed them since they now have a picture of a saddle with the oval rails mounted. But I screwed around with this for a full week and it wouldn't even get CLOSE to going together.

There is another kind: https://www.ebay.com/itm/121676677065?hash=item1c547ebfc9:g:a90AAOSwA4dWLDqF But I don't like those long screws after having the one come apart today.

So I settled for this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/332572499860?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=541671386104&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 This type has full support of the seat rails. I'm not wild about that aero section but they are in the US so I only have to wait for USPS service rather than the possibly 3 month travel from China.

Everyone has bike problems.
Mine wouldn't start on Friday with minus 9F at dawn (OK, it
was actually a pilot problem not a vehicle problem). I drove
to coffee instead.

As we know Frank, you think that a 1980 steel touring bike that weighs 35 lbs is the height of reliability. Until you have to change a flat and can't lift it. You always impress people with your wonderful life that has no problems.

Similar problem here. -28C outside so hard to get out of bed. Finally
went to the kitchen and made a coffee. Went down to the basement and did a

The west coast has been really cold this year. Most of the bay area this morning was in the high 30's unless you were right on the water and then it was in the low 40's. Even Phoenix and New Mexico has had these sorts of temperatures. It must be that global warming that is melting all of the Antartic ice - that's why all of their glaciers have been growing in one of the coldest summers on record. While NOAA is saying that this is the hottest years on record, the Arctic ice is at a 9 year high. February should bring the rain or possibly even snow to the hills around San Francisco.

So, among your myriad other talents you're a weather forecaster? Lord knows that you can't read English. Apparently, to your vast English capabilities, February means "within the next 10 days", seven of which are January. Congratulations. Another demonstration of what you are. I'm surprised that fat Johnny didn't beat you to it since it requires that incredible skill of using Google

So to YOU weather is "Just one of my interests. One of my sidelines from the 2way radio business was maintaining a few weather stations at mountain top radio sites. " Somehow makes you and expert on weather. And that "February" means to you, at most the next ten days of which 7 are January.

You are completely correct about "15 minutes wasted" because you will spend absolutely ANY time lying and anything at all. Have you considered lying less? That would waste a great deal less of your time.

Goodness, Gracious! "February means "within the next 10 days"
Really?

As for "Fat Johnny" I like it. Why, I weighed 61 whole kilograms this
morning after my shower. Gee in Americanese that is what? 134.48
pounds? So, tell us what you weigh?

But, perhaps you are a "light weight" after all, all that hair on your
head that is missing must have weighed something.

WE've all seen pictures of tommy. His neck is pretty skinny, though I wouldn't want to call him a pencil-neck because that implies a certain intellectual capacity that he clearly does not have. One thing we do know is that his neck is too skinny to support the weight of a fully formed brain.

Not that I believe in an after life. You die, you are dead. End of story.
But, if I could spend an eternal after life in the company of pretty girls who are "seducers" and pretty girls who are "flatterers", then YES YES YES. As for the panderers, sorcerers, false prophets, liars and thieves, no thanks. Sounds a lot like Tommy, Trump, and the Republicans.

Russell, the God Principal is now considered scientific reality. So if you believe that the universe doesn't have an intelligence behind its appearance you would be the one on the side of religion and not visa versa.

They have had to come up totally unbelievable theories to get the universe to make the slightest sense. The universe is at least three times larger than the oldest guess of the age of the universe. So what do they come up with to explain that? That the speed of light didn't exist during the Big Bang.. That the Universe achieved 90% of its size in the first 92 microseconds.

Remember that you're a book keeper and not a physicist.

The Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrel infestation. After much prayer and consideration, they concluded that the squirrels were predestined to be there, and they should not interfere with God’s divine will.

At the Baptist church, the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistry.. The deacons met and decided to put a water-slide on the baptistry and let the squirrels drown themselves. The squirrels liked the slide and, unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim, so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week.

The Lutheran church decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God’s creatures. So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist church. Two weeks later, the squirrels were back when the Baptists took down the water-slide.

The Episcopalians tried a much more unique path by setting out pans of whiskey around their church in an effort to kill the squirrels with alcohol poisoning. They sadly learned how much damage a band of drunk squirrels can do.

But the Catholic church came up with a more creative strategy! They baptized all the squirrels and made them members of the church. Now they only see them at Christmas and Easter.

Not much was heard from the Jewish synagogue. They took the first squirrel and circumcised him. They haven’t seen a squirrel since.

God Principal? I will guess that you mean the concept of gods and deities. And an after life for the soul to spend eternity. OK. I presume when you wrote "visa versa" you actually meant to write vice versa. Another example of your poor writing abilities. Please proofread your comments and correct spelling errors. Another sign of a lack of education.

Humorous story you wrote above. I do not know the philosophy espoused in the Bible about the treatment of animals. Wild animals. I know in the Christian half of the Bible it talks about loving your neighbor and being kind and feeding the homeless and such. But I don't know if the Bible is vegan or vegetarian in nature and against the raising and slaughtering of animals for food. Or killing wild animals for food either. I know Muslims are against pigs. Jews are against all animals on Friday. But I don't know if Christians are against any animals. Killing them for eating or just killing them.

Gee, I must have missed the peer reviewed white paper from anyone in the scientific community on the scientific proof of the existence of any god. Quick note: YEC and ID websites are _not_ "scientific reality". You can quote Behe, Dembski, Answers in Genesis, Evolutionnews.org, Discovery Institute, and other YEC or ID proponents all you want, the ID scam is just that - a scam. We aren't surprised tommy would fall for it - to the extent that he's now calling 'science' a 'religion', and vice versa.

> They have had to come up totally unbelievable theories to get the universe to make the slightest sense.

As believable as "god did it". At least these theories can be mathematically modeled People way smarter than me and way way way (ad infinitum) smarter than you developed these theories. Oh and may of them are actually religious.

> The universe is at least three times larger than the oldest guess of the age of the universe. So what do they come up with to explain that?

Explain how something being three times larger than it's age makes any rational sense and you might get an answer.

> That the speed of light didn't exist during the Big Bang.

Sure it did. It was different at that time. You see sparky, the expansion of the universe during the Planck Epoch was not constrained by the laws of physics as we currently know them. Quantum physics proves the laws of physics as defined by classical mechanics do not apply universally, and modeling suggests massive differences even by the current understanding of quantum theory.

> That the Universe achieved 90% of its size in the first 92 microseconds.

This is the one point in this response I had to look up. I couldn't find anything to support tommy's claim (surprise surprise) and speculations on the size of the universe as a function of time (which itself was variable at during the Planck Epoch and just after) are simply speculations. I did find the following article, written by Astrophysicist Ethan Siegel for Forbes Magazine:

"The diameter of the Milky Way is 100,000 light years; the observable Universe had this as its radius when it was approximately 3 years old"
https://www.forbes.com/sites/startswithabang/2017/03/24/how-big-was-the-universe-at-the-moment-of-its-creation/?sh=668778aa4cea

Considering that the best guesses for the current size of the universe are 93 billion light-years, the speculation that the universe was 100,000 light years at three years old made it ~0.0001% of what it is now. Many, Many orders of magnitude different than tommy's claim that it was 90% at 92 usec.
And yes, tommy, I believe an article written by a physicist for Forbes magazine before I believe you.

> Remember that you're a book keeper and not a physicist.
And remember you're a high school dropout, and not an engineer, let alone a physicist.

Shut the fuck up tommy.

According to the bible, god granted man dominion over the earth and all the animals. What is meant by dominion is a matter of speculation. Some sects think it means what tommy lists as the Presbyterian and Lutheran philosophies, others - such as the screeching cunt anne coulter - think it means:
" God said so: Go forth, be fruitful, multiply, and rape the planet -- it's yours. That's our job: drilling, mining and stripping. Sweaters are the anti-Biblical view. Big gas-guzzling cars with phones and CD players and wet bars -- that's the Biblical view." https://townhall.com/columnists/anncoulter/2000/10/12/oil-good;-democrats-bad-n850347 (not only did she write that, she repeated it on an episode of Hannity and Colmes in 2001)

Tell me Russell, how can you talk about the Bible without ever having read it? Only going on hearsay and pretending to be an expert on it? That is hardly the realm of a bookkeeper is it?

He didn't claim to be an expert on it, you idiot. He stated "I do not know the philosophy espoused in the Bible about the treatment of animals."

Quantum physics proves the laws of physics as defined by classical mechanics do not apply universally, and modeling suggests massive differences even by the current understanding of quantum theory.

>

Many, Many orders of magnitude different than tommy's claim that it was 90% at 92 usec..
> And yes, tommy, I believe an article written by a physicist for Forbes magazine before I believe you.

When you have a brain that refuses to actually look for things, it is no surprise you know nothing. When you are happy to lie about anything and everything it is not surprising you think that you know something when I'd be surprised if you can pee without wetting yourself.

I presume when you wrote "visa versa" you actually meant to write vice versa. Another example of your poor writing abilities. Please proofread your comments and correct spelling errors. Another sign of a lack of education.

The universe is at least three times larger than the oldest guess of the age of the universe. So what do they come up with to explain that? That the speed of light didn't exist during the Big Bang. That the Universe achieved 90% of its size in the first 92 microseconds.

In other words, you claimed russell claimed he was an expert on the bible when he explicitly said he wasn't, and that makes me a liar. Nice try sparky.. Shut the fuck up.
