I am serenely above all this grubby stuff. I fit a good KMC chain inside a Hebie Chainglider and run it on stainless steel cogs on its factory lube for its entire service life, then fit a new chain. See:

Most chain wear comes from grit off of the road so a good chain case would prevent the vast majority of chain wear,.
