I have the usual panoply of human failings but I don't own
any auto electronics beyond my 1965 soldered-board AM radio.

'saw it on the radio' is a trope which plays, like books, on
the feature that, without video, the images are more
eidetic. See also 'the colors are brighter in text' a phrase
I use often.

Did the car driver die from the crash or being eaten by the alligator?

When I first read your post, "I saw this on my car radio", the very first thing I thought was, How do you see on a radio? Your phrasing was confusing.. Distracting from the main point of the post.

I am aware there are colloquial sayings that do not mean what they literally say. Such as "Running a stop sign". No one literally runs with their legs through a stop sign and gets a ticket. They drive through a stop sign without stopping. Or "Beat the sh-t out of them". Again, not correct terminology.

The auto rolled over off the road, killing the driver.
Alligator (eleven feet!) didn't make it past this event
either, so there's that.

It came on the radio late at night on a long drive and
presented a vivid image.

I suspect hitting an 11 foot alligator at highway speed would be very similar to running into a very tall curb at highway speed. Guaranteed flipping and rolling of the car. Kind of the immovable object sort of thing.

Sayings such as, "Dialing a number" on a cellphone when you're actually typing a number.

Cheers

I liked it! I thought it witty.

There are forms of traditional music from various countries that are
often accompanied by dancing - loud dancing, with much battering or
stomping of the feet.

There have been times my wife and I have listened to that music via CDs
while driving, and I've joked "Wow, just look at that dancing!"

Or ending a cell phone call by "hanging up."
