But what happens when the computer goes berserk and starts spinning
the spokes in a random manner? Why, the hub, the center of the wheel,
could start to move referenced to the rims and the rims to be bent
right and left and one could go down the road bounding up and down and
swooping from side to side.

How will one stay in the bicycle lane with all that going on?

There's a term for that, 'Probable Cause'.

I admit to not being the most imaginative individual in the world. But it almost defies belief how creative or puzzling the human species can be when it really tries.

Well, why not. After all one can drive a car drunk, one can "walk"
drunk. Why not ride a bicycle when drunk?

I read yesterday, in the news, that you now have 3 sexes in the U.S.
(male, female and "X") so why not drunken bicyclists?

As an outsider I gaze with a certain amount of wonder at the U.S.

From the information that I see some 3.8% of the U.S. population is
"whatever you want to call it" and they are going to add "X" as a sex
to the passports.

But, I read that some 5.1% of the U.S. population is of Italian decent
and some 9.3 of the population is of Irish decent. Shouldn't they be
afforded some recognition too (:-)

They are already called Italian-Americans and Irish-Americans. How much more recognition do you want? Italian-American-Italian or Irish-American-Irish?

Yes. But he rode the bicycle drunk underneath and into the back of the police car. That gets you to the top of the podium.

But those "others" (I'm not sure what the current socially correct
term is) get to show their sex ("X") on their passports. Shouldn't all
the other minority groups be afforded an equal chance at notoriety?
What is it that they used to say? "What is sauce for goose is sauce
for the Gander"?

But is a simple "X" sufficient? After all some bat right handed and
some bat left handed and some are switch hitters and others don't want
to bat at all.

Maybe "X", "Y" and "Z"? or "X1", "X2" and "X3"?
So many problems.

A mere 50 K? Pish posh, you're a piker, John.....

This one retailed for 288K:
https://www.goldgenie.com/product/24k-gold-mens-racing-bike/

But hey, it comes with a lifetime warranty and a custom gift box (?!)

Not to be outdone, the fatbike fashionistas countered with this:

https://bikerumor.com/24k-gold-extreme-mountain-bike-worlds-most-expensive-fatbike/
" If the entire bike cloaked in 24k gold isn’t enough bling for you, the THSG head badge is made from 600 Black Diamonds, and 500 golden sapphires, while the bike is adorned with chocolate brown alligator leather."

Try and keep up, John.....

(and no, these weren't April fools entries)

There aren't enough Italians to matter. The #1 ethnic group
in USA, since the founding, are Germans.

When I was 16 (legal drinking age in Germany), I met a few others in
town for a wine-festival. I parked my bike in a vinyard at the edge of
the town.

At the end of the evening, I asked somebody else to help me to my bike,
sat on it and cycled 5 miles home (mostly on farm roads). I couldn't
care less that the rear wheel was flat. As opposed to the bicycle that
more or less showed forwards all the time, my bedroom was spinning all
around me that night.

Well, the first time I drank was in the Air Force after I got out of their school and was stationed to Moses Lake Washington (state). Their legal drinking age there was 18 but you were limited to 3.2% beer. Now the idea that you would piss the alcohol out as fast as you could drink it but there were certainly a lot of people trying to beat the odds. And 3.2 tastes rather bad. My father was a drunk so I was never much for drinking though I do drink wine now.
