As I've said elsewhere, I can't tell the difference climbing around here on a 16 lb. bike or a 20 lb. bike. But these days, except for the very critically light carbon fiber, most framesets are pretty close to one another in weight. My local shop that I use is owned by an ex-mechanic from the 7-11 team. He has all of the top end carbon fiber bikes for sale but he was most excited about getting the Waterford exclusive. He thinks that this is where the business is going to return. Steel is simply too reliable to worry about surrendering a lb for.
