Tubeless tires have improved quite a bit since I first started using them. While initially they had a hard time sealing the road tires and were somewhat flat prone with broken glass, now they hold air quite a bit longer than tube tires do without requiring pumping them up fairly often as originally they did. They also ride a lot more smoothly. Their weakness is that the tires are really expensive and increasing in cost unless you get a deal on one of the older models that has all of the older problems.

Another problem is that the easily obtained wheels are clinchers rather than tubeless. The question is, will tubeless die out because they are so expensive that only the top end sports riders will be willing to pay $150 for a pair of tires? And buy wheels that are sold by Reynolds or Enve.
