Once more because andre the hypocritical shitbag's ego is larger than his ability to reason.

I didn't write that _you_ did, shit bag. That was all tommy the twerps' rambling. The point that your bloviated ego obviously missed was that you have the temerity to write:

"I certainly hope you’ll stick around to correct the vast swathes of perverse “history” a certain contingent here spreads weekly. "
(Point: IF there's anyone here that Andrew Smith will recognize as a useless pathetic troll posting 'vast swathes of perverse "history", it isn't the people here that call you and kunich out on your bullshit. It's you two dumber and dumber twins, and he's already started when he correctly identified you as spreading nazi propaganda.)

whilst allowing your mutual sycophant to write:

> > "the vietnamese surrendered, ending the vietnam war"
> > "the rebel army won every battle in the US civil war before the emancipation proclamation"
> > "there was no recession before Barack Obama took office"

completely unchallenged. Cognitive dissonance much, skippy?

At least Andrew Muzi has the integrity to call out tommy when he's very clearly wrong. You have the integrity of a slimbag that laps up kuniches idiotic covid theories while eagerly lining up for your irish government mandated jab.

Fuck off and die you hypocritical shitbag, you're not wanted around here.

So, Anonymous Coward Flunky, after several times of asking, you now admit you tried to put words I didn’t speak into my mouth. Where’s your apology for it?

Unsigned out of contempt for a crude, pointless hater.

After all the screeching and name-calling from the scummier end of the Donkey Party on RBT, the fact still stands that a reputable, not to mention distinguished, polster discovered that:

I was born in South Africa, where the British operated Concentration Camps. I'm therefore familiar with the deep, generations-long societal scars such a policy would create.

Tagline to my sig edited 30 April on hand of information from Andrew, for which thanks.

I admitted no such thing. Kunich rants his "vast swathes of perverse “history”" without comment from you. This makes you complicit. As the self-appointed RBT arbiter of truthiness, you own those "vast swathes of perverse “history”" as much as he does. If anyone deserves an apology, it's from you towards the members of this forum for your implicit approval of kunich's "perversions".

Why do you post no where but RBT? Why aren't there any publishers contracting you for your learned and sage advice skippy? Perhaps it's that everyone with any integrity sees you, and sees nothing but the bullshit the rest of us see.

Nope. Andre is right (this time). I totally screwed up in that
posting and aggravated my mistake by not apologizing and explaining my
mistakes. Rather than calculate the minimum sample size, I guessed
rather badly that it should have been much larger, which was wrong.
1068 is the minimum survey sample necessary to represent the opinion
of the US population (300 million) for a 95% confidence level and a 3%
error level. See:
<https://www.calculator.net/sample-size-calculator.html?type=1&cl=95&ci=3&pp=50&ps=3000000000&x=55&y=18>
Survey results from Rasmussen Reports:
<https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/partner_surveys/jan_2022/covid_19_democratic_voters_support_harsh_measures_against_unvaccinated>
<https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/partner_surveys/jan_2022/toplines_heartland_covid_january_5_2022>

Andre mentioned some of this in his follow up posting:
<https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/9WEuMylDquc/m/8Az700vzAwAJ>
I posted something vaguely resembling an apology at:
<https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/9WEuMylDquc/m/wxM6hSBBAgAJ>
"Since I couldn't believe the result of the Rasmussen survey, I
decided that something was wrong with it and proceeded to accumulate
suspicions that it had been tweaked to provide the results desired by
its financial backers. I should have known that with a history of most
every country both tolerating or ignoring concentration camps, that a
substantial part of those surveyed would provide a similar "don't
care" attitude and response. Instead, I provided some rather marginal
suspicions and several bad guesses apparently from my faulty
memory."

I also make the mistake of declaring that the wording in the survey
and the report had changed. That was also wrong as I was comparing a
media interpretation of the survey, rather than what was actually
provided by Rasmussen.

Basically, I had a difficult time believing that 45% of Democrats
would favor concentration camps as a method of controlling the spread
of Covid 19 and failed to check my assertions before posting. At
best, this is an example of what can happen if I try to adjust the
evidence to match what I thought the conclusion should have been to
support my beliefs.

Thanks Jeff. I not only missed that your earlier entry was an apology, I somehow missed it altogether*. Your post above is proof of what I always knew, that you’re a mensch. It’s also a pretty good explanation of why stratified market research (“polling” in politocospeak) is so inordinately expensive.

Well, it was intended to be an apology. I'm not very good at writing
those.

It's a good example of why I usually avoid commenting on political
issues. It seems that eventually everyone becomes emotionally
involved in political discussions. Logic, truth, sanity, etc soon are
abandoned. I became involved because the discussion mentioned
concentration camps. My parents and relatives vacationed in several
camps for the duration of WWII. Consequently, I have some rather
strong opinions on the topic.

Here's another of your long posts that I left hanging with a retort.
I'll throw together a suitable reply in a few days:
<https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/9WEuMylDquc/m/1CX3_EdgAAAJ>

>* I’m trying to work solely on my IPad Pro 12.9in, to see if it can be done, but this is clearly a case where I should have turned my desktop Mac on to see a greater depth of posts.

Small screens are best suited for reading, but are only moderately
useful for writing and editing. Large screens are best for getting
the overall picture, comparing multiple documents, and multitasking
different activities. I don't want to go further into detail, but
suffice to say that each platform and associated screen size does some
things well, some things badly, and a mediocre job with what remains.
There is no single platform or screen size that will do everything
well.

Unfortunately, the tablet fits into the puzzle with the amazing
ability to not be the superior solution for doing anything. At 12.8
inches, it's only practical for reading 1/2 a document at a time,
limited text input, crude drawing, producing eyestrain playing simple
game, and showing off your photo collection. The screen is too small
to impersonate a real desktop, too large to carry comfortably, barely
usable as a smartphone, and mediocre for input because the keyboard is
too small, too thin, or both. Improving performance with an M1 chip
is like putting a jet engine in a Volkswagen. In the end, the result
is still a Volkswagen. In other words, a tablet is a solution looking
for a problem worth solving. Having it run IOS instead of MacOS gives
an important clue as to what Apple considers the proper place for the
iPad Pro.

Instead, I suggest you not try to find a single solution for all your
computing needs. Use a smarphone as a phone and collector of names,
addresses, appointments, and apps that you only run once. Use a 15 or
17 inch screen laptop for situations where you would normally use a
large screen desktop, but for some reason feel compelled to do your
work or writing in remote and inappropriate locations. For most
everything else, a desktop with a 24 to 32 inch screen will probably
be the most useful, especially if you want an immersive experience.

I have iPads of various ages and sizes for reading on my treadmill or in my bath or in bed, for painting on, for editing books on while I eat a midnight snack off its screen, suchlike; I bought the biggest iPad Pro because there is a brilliant painting programme designed exclusively and specifically for the Pro and Apple’s excellent Pencil 2; the app is called Procreate. You’re right about the older iPads: they were limited, a deliberately closed system to force you to buy the media you consume from Apple; they had just enough utility for media creators to make us buy them. But Apple has changed their minds about the iPads since Steve Jobs died. Significantly, they now have an app called “Files”, crude but functional, which is what it says, a filing system, and a pathway in and out of the iPad, which previously was a closed system (or almost — I had no problem moving text files in and out, or even movies), so that you can attach peripherals like hard disks and printers. And within a few years I suspect iOS and MacOS will be so close in operation as to be indistinguishable: Apple is already talking in public about making iOS and its apps operate on the Mac. A word of caution if you’re tempted to follow my example: The 12.9in Pro needs a case or sooner or later you will break its back and it will snap into two useless pieces, and the case I like, the Supcase Unicorn Beetle, is bloody heavy, and the iPad itself ditto; it won’t be fun hauling it, plus keyboard and mouse to turn it into laptop, plus a bag to contain it all, around even an office, never mind on the street. My installation is basically intended to stand on my drawing board on my desk in my study semi permanently, to save me from the sciatica of standing up at my easel, and to be moved when I want to use real paints by lifting it, complete with its lightweight metal stand which holds all the accessories, swivel my chair, and put it on pochade boxes behind my chair. If all you wanted was a bigger iPad, I would thinks this 90 inch
monster tablet would have been a candidate:
<https://crunchytech.com/products/padzilla-giant-iphone-giant-ipad-2/>

I didn't realize that you were into painting on the iPad. I wouldn't
have offered any recommendations because I have no experience and
therefore few opinions on the effectiveness of using an iPad for
painting. Sorry(tm).

>You’re right about the older iPads: they were limited, a deliberately closed system to force you to buy the media you consume from Apple; they had just enough utility for media creators to make us buy them.

Yep. Apple delivers only the bare minimum, so that the buyer has good
reasons to upgrade later. Walled garden, planned obsolescence,
non-repairable, glued packaging, no right to repair, product
differentiation, enhanced standards, etc. I must admit, it has worked
well enough for Apple, that other vendors emulating the Apple design
model. It also doesn't always work. For example, I don't recall
anyone emulating the Apple MacPro TrashCan or Cheese Grater.

>they now have an app called “Files”, crude but functional, which is what it says, a filing system, and a pathway in and out of the iPad, which previously was a closed system (or almost — I had no problem moving text files in and out, or even movies), so that you can attach peripherals like hard disks and printers.

Google ChromeOS had the same problem and is furiously applying the
same solution. Chromebooks use a rather crude file manager called
"Files", with little or no access to directories (folders) where
Google doesn't want mere mortals to tread. I haven't played with it
yet, but the latest beta release has some features that will allegedly
make it more useful. I can mount network drives and printers now, but
mind a few changes.

Notice that I said "network". Google, and probably Apple, are trying
to avoid the hassle of distributing devices drivers for 3rd party
peripherals. Google keeps the latest drivers on their servers, which
the OS detects and downloads. I suspect Apple will eventually do the
same thing.

>And within a
>few years I suspect iOS and MacOS will be so close in operation as to be indistinguishable: Apple is already talking in public about making iOS and its apps operate on the Mac.

I've been running Android Apps on my Chromebooks for several years.
Also, Linux on the Chromebook. For Windoze, I have WSL (Windoze
Subsystem for Linux) as well as various VM (virtual machines) for
Windoze and Linux Mint. I can even run Android apps on a Mac with an
M1 chip with BlueStacks. If the trend continues, I would expect
everything to run on everything else. For me, it's been a major time
waster as much of this stuff is rather buggy. It all has potential,
but I'm not going to recommend some of the recent stuff until it's
improved.

There's also the problem of Google releasing a really nifty product
and after a few years pretending it never existed.
<https://killedbygoogle.com>
This make investing time and money in bleeding edge computer software
products a potentially hazardous exercise.

Thanks for the hint, but I'm unlikely to buy an iPad Pro in the near
future. I don't use the computers much. I just fix them. Some of my
former customers have drifted away from PC's and replaced them Apple
hardware. I get to use and/or borrow their machines as needed. For
these, I have the ultimate carrying case. Cardboard box, handle,
bubble pack and lots of foam padding.

Sounds like you have the move to the iPad Pro well planned. Not much
I can offer or suggest for painting or office layout.

Hmmm... Bicycle. Gotta write something biycle related. Got it. How

Those are the typical misquotes that freaky flunky likes to make because his loves the idea of misinformation.

I never said that North Vietnam surrendered - I said that they admitted that they could never win under the present conditions. They were handed the victory by the antiwar movement Nixon bombed North Vietnam into submission and then LEFT. And while we should have NEVER been in Vietnam to begin with, that gave the hippy dippies the ideas that has led to the present dire economic conditions in this country. These are the college graduates from that time that are now running the Federal Reserve Bank which is another completely useless institution.

I read in a history book that the North had lost every MAJOR battle and repeated that. Frank corrected that. Though perhaps their definition of what "major battle" was and that of Frank was different. Skirmishes in which the North caused a retreat of the Confederate forces might have not been used for history's sake. If neither side had significant losses is it a MAJOR battle?

I have shown that in the second year of the Democrat Majority in Bush's last Presidency, that the Democrats overspent and that caused a definite dip in the economy but it was nothing more than a NORMAL retreat that occurs every time a Democrat majority is elected. The Great Recession was ENTIRELY because of Obama who lied about everything. Bush did NOT have a particularly good economy but neither was it bad. The Democrat Congress did a poor job but no worse than any other Democrat Congress. The Great Recession was ENTIRELY due to Obama. https://www.thebalance.com/us-debt-by-president-by-dollar-and-percent-3306296

Biden has now made Obama look like a conservative. That we are already in a recession is impossible to ignore. Even all over California you are seeing more and more signs "Vote Trump" and "You Go Brandon". While returning from Santa Rosa, as I passed through Berkeley on the freeway, the bicycle and pedestrian overpass had dozens of signs from CAL STUDENT PROTESTORS - "Stop the hate" and "Defund the Media". The time of the leftists is over, the only way they are going to win now is with election fraud.

Denesh Desouza has released a podcast that showed at least one man stuffing 47 ballot boxes in two states and pictures of one woman with an entire stack of ballots. She was about to push them into one of these ballot boxes set around neighborhoods and then stopped and went back to her car where you could plainly see her signing each and every one of them before returning and stuffing the ballot box. These people were not smart enough to do this on their own so the Democrats were paying them to do this believing that they would be protected. But that is about to sharply change. This November will be the largest change in parties In Congress ever. And they are going to take down the communist regime that has crippled the DEA, Border Patrol and virtually every department of government. San Francisco has a recalled on the ballot to kick that communist off of his DA position. And then legal actions can be taken against him for his criminal acts.

People on the far left are dead in the water now. With the sale of the worse abuser of speech possible - Twitter - by Elon Musk. And Truth Social being carried on the Rumble server cloud the radical left has completely lost control of limited speech. Even the leftist Amazon lost so much money last quarter that their board of directors is very likely to be replaced with neutrals.

So now the accountant that cannot add simple numbers, the pseudonym child, the engineer who never engineered, the leftist politician who cannot get reelected and the cripple who attacks people on a bicycle group pushing his own leftist agenda, are goners. What do you suppose that losers do when the overwhelming culture is winning?

Almost instantly the economy fell into the tank. Until Biden, Obama had absolutely the worst economy of the post war years. Truman was almost as bad but he had the excuse of the war recovery years. The economy of Jimmy Carter was dreadful but Obama had HALF the performance of Carter making a peanut grower look intelligent in comparison. Flunky shows himself to be nothing more than the stalker as was suggested to me. I continue to see that he wants to suck me every time one of his postings is copied to me. https://www.hudson.org/research/12719-obama-s-historically-bad-economy "Obama’s best year? 2.6 percent in 2015. That’s so weak that it is beneath the post-WWII average of 2.9 percent." No9 wonder Frank and Flunky dislike me so much. They cannot stand facing the truth.

This simply cannot be coming from Americans. I think that the left is really directed either by Russian or Chinese intelligence propaganda. Then the wholly Democrat owned Slime Stream Media simply repeats the stuff that NO mainstream American believes or ever believed.

This has now lost the Democrats 25% of the black vote and almost half of the Hispanic vote who know that it isn't normal Hispanics coming poring over the southern border but drug runners, human trafficker's and straight out enemies of the US who are taking advantage of the Democrats to embed intelligence groups.

"What happens if you put a Giant Propeller on a bike?"
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5gbT7Uo5qY> (34:58)

I like the idea, but not the implimentation. The author of the video
wanted to build something that was as close as possible to the
original idea published in the 1963 Popular Mechanics magazine, which
is far from optimized for performance. For example, the variable
pitch propeller is the right idea, but should look more like these
props:
<https://www.thisdayinaviation.com/tag/gossamer-condor/>
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbEzkbcnOiU>
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CQgOqUTbBY>
(airspeed = 9.8m/sec (21.9mph).
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fhiLQoHkVc>
(would you believe a 1 blade prop?)
There's also a problem with the sleeve bearing. The drive shaft is
going to bend under load with an aluminum tube. Any bending will bind
the sleeve bearing and create friction. It should have been a ball
bearing, which can tolerate about a 5 to 7 degree misalignment.

You're right that the saft, gears, bearings, mounts, etc are going to
weight more than a conventional chain and sprocket drive train. I
don't know how much more. Ceramic Speed has such a bicycle:
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFAQ6CzNm7s>
<https://www.ceramicspeed.com/en/cycling/journal/the-future-is-shifting>

Using an existing shaft driven bicycle for the basic design is
probably a bad idea. The drive shaft is at the same level above the
ground as the rear axle. Assuming the rear axle and drive shaft are
32cm above the the ground, minus about 10 cm for ground clearance
leaves:
2 * 32 - 10cm = 54cm
maximum diameter for the propeller. That's tiny. Moving the drive
shaft to the same level as the top tube results in:
2 * 80 - 10cm = 170cm
maximum fan diameter. That's much better.

The internet never forgets tommy - someday you might learn this lesson: In https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/XuVm1w-41SM/m/4Zxd0YU-FwAJ you wrote:

"Thirdly the North Vietnamese surrendered at the Paris Peace Treaty". No, you never went back and corrected or even modified the claim, even after multiple people responded that there was no language resembling 'surrender' in the paris treaty.

What book? The History of the War of Northern Aggression by Proud Boy Publishing? No legitimate history book would ever have printed such nonsense. The very idea that the north lost every battle - even if it was in some "history" book - should have caused you to question it. Funny how you buy some bullshit hook, line, and sinker, yet refuse to admit your were wrong when repeated shown incontrovertible proof.

No Sparky, I did. https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/_1eEehgsDD0/m/Xi9z6fb3CgAJ.

> Though perhaps their definition of what "major battle" was and that of Frank was different. Skirmishes in which the North caused a retreat of the Confederate forces might have not been used for history's sake. If neither side had significant losses is it a MAJOR battle?

Might help if you researched such claims before making them.

I see, so now the sub-prime mortgage crises never occurred.
Bush never signed the 700 billion dollar TARP legislation in october of 2008.
On October 11, 2008, The Wall Street Journal did NOT report that year-to-date losses in the stock markets totaled about $8 trillion as holdings declined in value from $20 trillion to $12 trillion.
Nope, none of that ever happened.
And I guess the American Enterprise Institute asked "What caused the 2008 financial crisis?" (https://www.aei.org/special-features/government-mortgage-complex/) in 2016 it was a rhetorical question about a hypothetical event?

Keep flailing sparky.....

> https://www.thebalance.com/us-debt-by-president-by-dollar-and-percent-3306296

As usual, your link doesn't show what you claim it does. TARP was signed by bush in october 2008, so the debt associated with that shows up under obama. Basic finances, sparky.

I wonder how andre can look himself in the mirror when he accuses every one here but you of "vast swathes of perverse “history”", and let your shenanigans percolate without question.

I’m past trying stuff like that, but I was thinking that if one bought a shaft-driven bike and some spare transmission parts, one could turn the driveshaft at the bottom bracket to point up, and then use the spare parts to operate the propeller clear of the wheel.

But did you watch the video to the end? That guy who got up to quite modest speed is a semi-pro cyclist, a regional champion, and looked pretty fit. I think a prop-driven bike would need a mechanically variable prop (HEAVY!) or a gearbox behind it..

I have all the electronics and mechanics for a bicycle auto box already, on my Trek Smover. Put a dummy rear wheel on the bike, put the original rear wheel with the gearbox and its electronic shifter at right angles to the bike at the back, attached prop blades to it, keep the electronics and controls, and Bob’s your uncle. You’ve seen the bike in question before but for those who haven’t, here it is:
http://coolmainpress.com/BICYCLINGsmover.html
Not to mention the NuVinci CVT auto box.

Andre Jute
I get there in the end.

In the speed regime of a bicycle, propellers are almost useless in a medium as thin as air.

Hey skippy, you can keep copy/pasting from your publisher reviews all you want. We still aren't impressed

Ironically from the pathetic troll who consistently repeats "Anonymous Coward Flunky" (and didn't even come up with that phrase on his own). I never tire of reminding you why the only place on this entire planet anyone sees your written word any more is in a free unmoderated forum: You're an old, tired, pathetic, never-really-was that no legitimate publisher has any use for.
