Only visible at dawn and dusk!
Sun has to shine on a satellite and has to have solar panel to reflect the light!
Otherwise you don't see them!

Why would anybody at an eyepiece care? It spends a fraction of a
second in the field.

It's annoying, distracting, disturbing. How would you like to watch TV when streaks running through it.?

A tiny flash, you might see a few a night, lasting a fraction of a
second? You have more random flashes from neuronal events than that.
Don't be absurd. Satellites through eyepieces are a non-thing.
Satellites captured on most astronomical cameras are a non-thing. The
satellites are not readily visible to the naked eye when out doing
simple skygazing. Another non-thing.

You are an idiot. These satellites will be of similar brightness to the majority of the stars seen in the field of a binocular. Eventually, these satellites will be more numerous than those stars.

What you say is not important.

Again, so what? A transient satellite passing through a binocular
field. Big deal. And if you're focused on one area, it's still going
to be minutes between events. These pose not threat to ordinary naked
eye viewing of the sky, no threat to telescopic observation, no threat
to the vast majority of imaging.

It's not a single "transient" satellite (whatever the * you mean by "transient'") it's FIFTY satellites simultaneously visible in the field of a typical binocular. Most of the satellites will be brighter than most of the few dozen stars visible in the field.

Obviously, you know very little about astronomy.

Do you have a mouse in your pocket? Chris Peterson has forgotten more physics and astronomy than you have ever known. I respect his view, even if I occasionally do not agree with it.

I, one of many, hear his words. Actually, it is your words that are dismissed out of hand by most folks here. You are just as big an asshole now as you have ever been, and that's a fact!

The only people who say that these satellites aren't are problem are those who stand to make money from them and their useful idiots such as you and peterson. Astronomers including those in the IAU have valid concerns about the situation. You are outnumbered and as usual out-classed. You are the a**-h***. But then we all know that.

If you actually had a brain you would undoubtedly take it out and then misplace it. Not that it would be any great loss.

I never said nor implied that either you or peterson were making money from the satellites. You need to learn how to read and think.

Why are you defending the launch of 42,000+ satellites that will deface the night sky?

Take the critics seriously. They make a valid point.

There are valid concerns. But in the big scheme they are pretty small,
and they are not the concerns you regularly voice here. The only
significant professional astronomical impact is with a couple of wide
field survey telescopes. There is no amateur impact at all. And there
are huge benefits to the technology. Good policy is made by weighing
costs and benefits, and in this case, it's difficult to argue that the
latter don't considerably outweigh the former.
