realize that as soon as "disarmament" is complete crime will no longer
exist and life will be wonderful?

In a culture fervidly attempting to 'wish away' oil (which
freed us from slavery, draft animals and horse poop in the

But, it is all so simple. Get rid of the oil and you will get rid of
global warming, get rid of the guns and you get rid of crime.

Life is sure simple, isn't it.

Of course, I read that carbon fiber made from PAN (polyacrylonitrile)
which is an oil-based raw material, so no oil no plastic bicycles (:-)

I assume you are referring to internal combustion engines as freeing us. They were first invented, or thought of on paper, in the late 1790s. I did not know they were that early. But the first modern engine was created in the 1870s. By the Germans. The Civil War occurred during the first half of the 1860s. 10+ years earlier. Britain abolished slavery in 1834. I think for its colonies too. Spain 1811, Sweden 1813, Netherlands 1814, France 1848, Portugal 1858 or 1878, Cuba 1886, Brazil 1888. I'm a little dubious of the claim that oil powered engines freed us from slavery since slavery was outlawed in all the western world before petroleum fueled engines were used.

Its a nice slogan or saying "Oil and engines freed the slaves!!!!!!!!!" But false. The vast majority of the world knew slavery was wrong long before oil and engines were used. They realized putting up with horse poop was better than enslaving human beings. Even the dark colored ones.

I only have one carbon, plastic, bike. So it would not bother me too much. Carbon bikes weren't used by the pros until the 1980s. The greatest bicyclist of all, Eddy Merckx, never competed on a carbon bike. He set the world hour record on a steel bike. No aero tubing or aero wheels either. So I'm pretty confident bicycling could survive with a carbon bike ban.

Well, when I was a kid, there was still horse poop in the streets and people regularly died from undiagnosed diseases caused by bacterial infections brought about by the unsanitary conditions. I think that this would be appropriate for Kragowski who will tell us that he never said that we should reduce out oil use while fervently supporting every word that Biden utters.

You have one more carbon bike than I do. Our house has two matching
aluminum Cannondales. All the other bikes are steel. In fact, I don't
think there's a gram of carbon fiber on any of them.
