I was test riding the Colnago CLX3.0 to make sure everything was operating correctly and the lower limit on the rear derailleur was incorrectly set and it derailed to the outside. I had to pull the wheel out to clear it all and in so doing the rear derailleur pulled its wire out. It appears to be about 50 mm too short. Well, there is plenty of extra room for internal cables so I ordered one 100 mm longer. Pulling the new Ultegra Bottom Bracket off and fishing out the cover and then threading wires back into the tubes so that I could get at the junction block to measure the present cable was quite a chore but accomplished with a fair minimum of screaming and cursing. If I was stupid enough to believe Shimano and used the internal bar end junction box instead of the external under the bar controller it would have been 10 times as difficult just so that you could brag that you have no visible wires. At my fastest I could never ride fast enough for those wires to make a detectable amount of drag.

Measured the wire, have the junction block in the BB slot ready to install the new wire when it comes in from Hong Kong in a month and then the new owner will have nothing to complain about. And I will have the piece of mind knowing that it is wired correctly.

While I like the Di2, it seems to me like buying a Porche to replace my Ford Taurus - spending a fortune to drive what is used for nothing more than transportation. Absolutely the Di2 shifting is better than manual shifting - faster and smoother and noiseless after the shift. And as an 11 speed you have your choice of wheels without worry about spacing.

But I don't like Porche and I do like my Taurus. So I do prefer my C50 with Chorus.

Piece of mind? No doubt I was thinking about Russell when I wrote that. He needs a piece of my mind every three days minimum to keep him yearning after man-flesh. But I suppose in that case I meant peace of mind. Something I have and the disgusting four will never achieve.

Sorry, I could not resist responding to Tommy boy. My apologies.

Tommy boy writes:
"a Porche to replace my Ford Taurus" and "I don't like Porche and I do like my Taurus"

Tommy, why oh why do you feel the need to display your stupidity and ignorance every single time you post on this forum? Don't you realize we all already know you are dumb. Why do you repeatedly demonstrate it over and over again?

Tommy, the car company name is spelled P-O-R-S-C-H-E. Please note the "S" in the name. Tommy, if you were in Germany, they would whip the hide off your bum for misspelling Porsche.

And as for preferring your old used Taurus to a Porsche, not one single solitary person on the face of the earth would make that choice. Even a housewife with school children Momma who needs the Taurus to shuttle 5 kids to school would take the Porsche, sell it, pocket the $50,000 extra and buy a minivan.
