Paypal has made it extremely difficult to contact them for any reason including the latest Yahoo charges for some sort of AOL subscription that I've never made.

I always hesitate to use any of the government services until every other available resource is exhausted.

I am getting to the point where I will not use Ebay except in exceptions - absolutely NOTHING from China and no deal too good to be true. The Record levers were from Canada so I went for that. The longer Di2 wire from China was yet another BS but there turns out to be a US company stocking the size I need. Paypal makes it so difficult to purchase anything safely now that I have to change over to Amazon for small things and use my credit card.

Yup, Tommy keeps pointing his finger and shouting "COMMUNIST" and I
keep telling him that he is living in a socialist environment, no
different then if he was in Russia in it's heyday (:-)
In fact, in Stalin's day retirement age, for men, was 60 years.

John, somehow you do not seem to gel with reality. You are living in Thailand directly adjacent to Cambodia and Vietnam and you talk about the US being even vaguely socialist when you have the real deal right in front of you? Social Security is something I paid for. Not partially but as I've stated before, 100% until I'm 92. DO you believe that your Air Force retirement is socialist? This is PRECISELY what you're implying that Social Security is. Medicare never quite reached the levels of Social Security but only because it was started much later and I happen to have private health insurance and whatever interactions they have with Medicare is their business and not mine.

*If* by "Russia in it's heyday" you mean "Soviet Russia" (there were
many different Russias), considering occassional shortages, FoxNews
mapping to Pravda, some other mappings, then such equivalence might be
not far from the truth. Except, The Period of Developed Socialism is
not exactly socialism.

In the Pre-Socialism Russia, there was that thing by name The Bonds.
You don't see that often :/

Should have responded earlier. But some historical things cannot be compared to today. Such as the retirement age in Stalin's era. I would guess the average life expectancy for men in Russia was about 57. So making retirement age 60 was not a big deal. 1% of the people would qualify. Back when FDR signed social security in the early 1930s, I suspect the age to qualify for social security was 62 or something like that. And the lifespan was about 63. No problem paying for social security. Similar when Johnson signed Medicare in the 1960s. It was at 62 or 65 years old. And life expectancy was about 66. Government pays for medical care for old people for a year or two. No big deal. But now, decades and decades later, we see life expectancy much higher. And people collecting social security and Medicare for decades and decades and decades today. And bankrupting both systems.

Well, yes. Life expectancy in Russia in 1945 was 23.6 years (:-)

But, of course, that wasn't the point of my post. I was telling Tommy
that he is living right now in the same conditions as he would have
been in Communist Russia., so his pointing the finger and shouting
COMMUNIST is, well, sort of simple minded.

Very easy to contact, if you follow the instructions:

1. Start here: <https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us>
Hours are 6:00 AM PT to 6:00 PM PT Monday through Sunday.
2. Login to your Paypal account.
3. If you have two factor authentication setup, punch in the numbers
when it asks.
4. You will be presented with a phone number to call (1-888-221-1161
in US or 1-402-935-2050 outside the US) and a one time passcode.
5. When an operator answers your call, usually within 10 min, they
will ask for this passcode. Give it to them.
6. The rest you can probably figure out by reading the rest of the
web page.

If you have some kind of service contract with Yahoo or AOL that you
want to wiggle out of paying, and can't prove that fraud,
impersonation, or hacking was involved, then Paypal isn't going to do
anything for you. Instead, they will refer you to Yahoo or AOL for
obtaining a refund or reversing the charges.
