As far as I understand that app just give a visual presentation of the spoke tension of every spoke. You have to input it yourself? Not very intelligent. Why does the tension meter just send its reading to the PC/laptop/app?

The last time I spoked a wheel a couple of years ago I was quite surprised that my hands remembered the procedure quite well. The particular rim however was not very stiff and setting equal tensions did not result in a straight wheel. I wonder where my tensiometer is now. I have all of these tools and I can't find them when I want them.

I also have one of those tools used to cut off carbon threadless steering tubes to the correct length and can't find that either. All I can find is the aluminum tube cutter tool. I just have to buy a roll-around so that I can keep all of my tools in one spot. I can put all of my wood working tools in a separate toolbox and put it on the lower shelf and then put all of my mechanic's tools in the 7 drawers of the roll around. It also has a side shelf into which you can put all of your parts that you're working on so that you don't lose them. I dropped the locking serrated washer off of one of my brakes and I'll be damned if I can find where it went. I felt it hit my pant leg and it sounded like it rolled under the car so I backed it out and looked very carefully. I even swept that entire area up. I ordered one from Amazon and after two weeks it still hasn't shown up. So I ordered a half dozen from another site and they haven't shown up. Luckily one of my other brakes had two of them and I replaced one with a spacer, That turned out to be interesting The rear brake would rotate quite easily and hence when you put the brake on it would self center.

My mechanic that I use for the expensive tool work, has a dozen drawers of tools and always seems to know exactly where everyone of them are.

A few nice tool cabinets make a neat shop appearance but if
you're forgetful steel drawers can be a challenge.

Maybe a couple of sheets of plywood and a box of drywall screws?

That would be a very good idea but I don't have enough wall space.

Presently I'm waiting for he delivery of a camera since it appears that my camera kicked the bucket yet again. This will allow me to more carefully photograph all of the excess inventory I have and get it the hell out of here.. That will give me room for a roll around.

I've done that in my undersized basement workshop. Some people even
paint outlines of the tools so multiple workers know to put them back
precisely.

I also have a metal filing cabinet with about 15 shallow, long drawers,
probably intended for filing cards of some sort. Bike tools are crammed
into one drawer, soldering equipment in another, 120V electrical parts
in another, etc.

But most of my work is done with tools in an ancient tool tray that sits
in the top of a large portable tool box. I'm organized enough that the
sockets are lined up in a long slot, odd ones facing down, even facing
up. (I've thought about Sheldon's color code.) Single handle tools like
screwdrivers are all at the right, two handle tools like pliers are all
at the left. I can usually put my hand on a specific tool within a
couple seconds.

If it falls apart it's when I'm buried in a project - like two days ago,
lying under the new car installing a trailer hitch. I invariably put a
tool down "just for a second," get into some complication, then forget
where I laid the tool.

Oh, and then there are the times my wife uses a tool. Those can end up
anywhere at all.

Luckily one of my other brakes had two of th

Perhaps something like a pack of these and a marker to label
them?

Actual tool boxes are an actual capital investment.

My amortized cost on a 48 year old Kennedy has been a very
good value. At this point YMMV.

Much as I like tech and I do use apps for all sorts of things, some are
just daft, and over complicated saw a water vending machine that folks had
noted in london somewhere that needed an app which is just daft.
